On a blustery day the Cougars started strong in doubles against Goshen College, going up 3-0 and did not look back, winning by an eventual score of 8-1.
David Darling lost a match for the first time in almost a year. Prior to today, David had not lost a singles since September 14, 2009, with a 27-match, school record winning streak. Darling did not go down without a fight. Trailing 6-4, 5-2, Darling went on a tear, winning 5 straight games to even the match at one set all. Because SAU had already won the match a 10-point supertiebreaker was played in lieu of a 3rd set, and Csabi Laszlo, the undefeated #1 player for Goshen, prevailed 10-7 in the supertiebreaker. Despite Darling's loss, the Cougars stayed undefeated at 3-0 and will now travel to Indiana Wesleyan University for a showdown on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11:00.
