After coming in 2nd place to Davenport University in a tournament on Saturday the Cougars knew they were going to have their hands full in their dual match with DU today. Two quality wins at #1 doubles (
Aaron Mayes and
Nathan Scholten) and #2 doubles (
David Darling and
Tim Smolen) put the Cougars up 2-1 going into the singles. The Cougars won at #1 (Darling) and #2 (Mayes) singles but it took a tremendous turnaround from
Matt Wojtkowski at #6 singles to seal the win for SAU. Wojtkowski had lost to this same Davenport player, Tyler Chambers, by a decisive 6-2, 6-2 score on Saturday but he turned the tables on Chambers and got the Cougars their fifth point with a 6-4, 6-4 win.
