The Spring Arbor University women's soccer team made short work of the Bethel College Pilots in the quarterfinal round of the Crossroads League tournament today.
The Cougars used five first half goals to sink the Pilots and move on to the semi-final against Taylor University who dispatched of Huntington University 2-0 in the #4-#5 matchup today.
Junior forward Brooklyn Morgan notched a pair of goals in the 9th and 27th minute while Senior forward Maegan Smith struck for markers in the 10th and 15th minute, allowing SAU to put the game out of reach early. Senior defender Cheyenne Martinez-Trevino followed up with a penalty kick goal in the 42nd minute to close out the scoring for SAU. Karly Linton picked up an assist, while Smith and fellow senior Megan Wegener each picked up a pair of helpers.
SAU out-shot their visitors 36-1 on the afternoon.
Spring Arbor moves to 16-2-1 on the year with the victory.
The Cougars will now host Taylor University next Saturday in the semi-final round. The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live vis Stretch Internet.
