Cougar Fall in First Round of NAIA

MOBILE, AL - The men's tennis team's fantastic year has come to a close at the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, AL. The Cougars drew Aquinas College in the first round and fell to the #13 seed 7-2.

Despite the score, the match was close. Starting with doubles, Spring Arbor's #2 double team of David Darling and Nate Scholton , who had not lost a match together at #2 doubles all season and had a match point to win, but could not convert and would eventually lose the match. It was the first loss in 16 matches at that position.

The two wins for the Cougars came at #2 singles Thomas Calderone who won the first set 6-3 and was down in the second set 3-5 and on the verge of going to a third set, but stormed back to take the second set 7-5 to win the match. Matt Wojtkowski won his match at #6 singles 6-1, 6-3 for the other Spring Arbor point.

The Cougars finish the year with a best ever 26-3.
