Men's Tennis defeat Trine University 6-3

ANGOLA, IN – It may be freezing outside and winter storm warnings may be all over the news, but the Men's Tennis team was back in action and opened the spring sports session for Spring Arbor University.  Playing indoors, the Cougars defeated the Trine University Thunder 6-3 on Tuesday night and improved their record to 11-2.

Spring Arbor, ranked 24th in the NAIA, had wins from David Darling at #2 singles (6-1, 6-1), Aaron Mayes at #3 singles (6-4, 6-3), Nathan Scholten at #4 singles (6-0, 4-6, 6-0), and Jesse DeBoer in a marathon comeback match at #6 singles (4-6, 6-4, 12-10).

The #1 Doubles team of Calderone and Mayes won 8-6, and Darling and Scholten teamed up at #2 doubles to win 8-5.

The Cougars will back in action when they travel to Albion College for a 4:00 match on March 7th.
