SPRING ARBOR, MI – On a beautiful sunny Saturday on the Spring Arbor University campus, the Cougar men's tennis team dismantled the Taylor Trojans 7-2. Three of the singles matches went three sets, and all went the Cougars way.
John Hall went the distance at #2 singles with a 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 win. Drew Herlein came from behind after losing the first set 2-6, but rallied winning the second set in a tie breaker, 7-6 (6), and 6-3 in the third set, for the match. Michael Darling also came back from being down in the first set to win 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Jesse DeBoer and Andrew Fitzpatrick both won singles matches in straight sets.
In Doubles, Matt Wojtkowski and Drew Herlein won at the #1 slot, 8-6 and Jesse DeBoer and Aaron Laatsch picked up the win at #3 8-5.
Spring Arbor improves to 2-0 in the Crossroads League while Taylor slipped to 0-2. The Cougars will travel to Winona Lake, IN to play Grace College on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 match.
