SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team made quick work of short-handed Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, defeating the Blue Devils 9-0 in its first home match of the spring season.
The Cougars were given a 2-0 advantage before the first serve as Lawrence Tech (0-7) was forced to default one doubles and one singles match due to playing with just five players.
The teams of junior Quincy Banini and senior Erin Hossack, playing at No. 1 doubles, and seniors Hope Roelofs and Katie Storrer, playing at No. 2 doubles, cruised to identical 8-1 wins.
Spring Arbor sealed the victory after sophomore Mary-Kate McShane won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Banini, Roelofs and Hossack also prevailed in straight sets while Storrer held on to edge her opponent in a three sets 7-5, 6-7, 10-5.
Up next, the Cougars (12-5) will travel to Calvin College on Wednesday, Mar. 25. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
