SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 1 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team erupted offensively on Saturday afternoon, dismantling previously unbeaten, and No. 20 ranked Taylor University 6-0 in a weather-shortened match at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The contest was called with 14:14 remaining in the second half due to inclement weather, but because it was past the 70 minute mark, it was official.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor scored the first of three first half goals just over 10 minutes into the match. Renee Broekhuizen found Corrie Good in front of the goal, and Good slipped a shot through four defenders to give the Cougars an early lead.
- That was how the score stayed until the 34th minute when Morgan Marshall took a pass from Aubrey Schierbeek and punched an in-tight shot past the Taylor goalkeeper. Then, with less than three minutes before halftime, Bethany Balcer would find the back of the net to give SAU a 3-0 advantage at the break.
- It was all Cougars again in the second, tallying three more goals, including a second from Balcer in the 63rd minute. Abbey Fuller also scored for the third time in three matches, while Casandra Besteman recorded her first marker of the season.
- Goalkeeper Ashley Timmons posted three saves to earn the shutout.
- Spring Arbor outshot Taylor 23-5 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- The Cougars continue to build on their program-record long winning streak, which now stands at 29 games. The NAIA record is 46 held by Mobile (Ala.).
- Taylor had registered four consecutive shutouts and allowed just two goals all season entering today's match.
- Over the last 10 seasons, Spring Arbor is a perfect 16-0 against Taylor.
- Spring Arbor is 5-0 against opponents either ranked or receiving votes in the Top 25 this season.
FOR THE FOES
- Bailey Zehr recorded a team-high two shots for the Trojans while three other players tallied one apiece.
- Goalkeepers Lauren Engelkes and Lauren Cammarano combined to make four saves on the afternoon.

Spring Arbor will host Huntington University (4-5-2, 0-2-1 CL) on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. before visiting Goshen College (6-4-2, 2-0-1 CL) on Saturday, Oct. 8.
