HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Aubrey Schierbeek got the scoring started for Spring Arbor in the ninth minute. Schierbeek took a pass from Alyssa Joseph and ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box past the HU goalkeeper.
  • In one of its only opportunities, Huntington had a quality chance to answer less than a minute later, but a shot attempt from Jaime Calvin sailed over the crossbar.
  • The score remained 1-0 the rest of the half, but it did not take long for SAU to add to its lead in the second period, finding the back of the net just 14 seconds after the opening whistle. Bethany Balcer slipped a pass to Corrie Good in the corner, and Good sent a cross in front of the goal that found the head of Joseph to put the Cougars up 2-0.
  • Renee Broekhuizen capped the scoring in the 80th minute when she struck a beautiful free kick from well outside the box to the far post past the leaping netminder.
  • Spring Arbor outshot Huntington 20-0 in the second half and 33-2 overall. The Cougars also earned eight corner kicks to the Foresters' zero.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

  • Over the last 10 seasons, Spring Arbor is a perfect 13-0 against Huntington.
  • The Cougars' 30-match winning streak is the second longest in NAIA history behind only Mobile (Ala.), who posted 46 straight wins from 1997-98.
  • The Cougars have allowed just one goal in 990 minutes of action this season while recording 10 shutouts – which is the most in the country.

FOR THE FOES

  • Olivia Knispel and Jaime Calvin were recorded the only shot attempts for the Foresters.
  • Paige Coolman finished the night with nine saves – the second-most this season for the HU goalkeeper.
