Cougars drop two on final day of USF Big Guns Classic

JOLIET, Ill. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team wrapped up play at the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) Big Guns Classic with matches against Olivet Nazarene University and Trinity Christian College on Saturday. The Cougars fell to Olivet Nazarene 3-0 before dropping a three-set match to Trinity Christian.

MATCH BREAKDOWN

  • SET SCORES: 25-12, 25-23, 25-14
  • Alyssa Walker and Rebekah Kujat led the attack with seven and six kills, respectively. Annica Stotz registered a double-double with 19 assists and 12 digs while Leah Rose and Gabrielle Hilliard recorded aces.
  • Rose picked up a team-high 18 digs and Kujat finished with two blocks.
  • Oliviet Nazarene was paced by Katie Tabisz with nine kills and Ellie Adamson with 33 assists. The Tigers had three players recorded double-digit digs, including Alex Ewalt with 28.

  • SET SCORES: 25-19, 25-23, 25-15
  • Against Trinity Christian, Courtney Kyser tallied a team-best eight kills hitting at a .400 clip. Walked followed with seven and Kujat added six.
  • Stotz assisted on 26 of the Cougars' 30 kills while Mackay Heasley and Taylor Johnston each posted an ace.
  • Rose anchored the defense with 14 digs and Olivia Landis finished with two blocks.
  • The Trolls were led by 16 kills from Kacie Stoll and 36 assists from Tori Mantel.
