MATCH BREAKDOWN

  • SET SCORES: 25-21, 15-25, 25-19, 25-18
  • An early 5-0 run in the first set put Marian in the driver's seat, but SAU would battle back and eventually erase the deficit. Trailing 20-18, an ace from Leah Rose and a kill from Kasey Follis leveled the score. The Knights would regroup, though, and capture five of the next six points to claim the first set.
  • Marian took that momentum into the second set and quickly built an 11-7 lead. Following a kill from Maggie Watson, however, the Cougars would rattle off five unanswered points behind some outstanding defensive play. The Knights trimmed the deficit to 13-12, but Rose served up five consecutive points to put the set out of reach and even the match at one set apiece.
  • The pivotal third set went back and forth early on as the two sides battled to a 13-13 score. From there, the visitors would secure seven of the next nine points en route to picking up the set win. Marian would use another lengthy scoring run in the fourth set on their way to earning the victory.
  • Courtney Kyser finished with a career-high 11 kills and two blocks to lead the Cougars. Rebekah Kujat also tallied 11 kills while Follis and Alyssa Walker recorded eight each.
  • Annica Stotz also registered a new career-high with 37 assists while also picking up eight digs.
  • Gabrielle Hilliard led all SAU players with 16 digs. Rose followed with 13 and Mackay Heasley finished with 12.
