HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team played two road matches over the weekend, falling to Grace College and Huntington University by identical 3-1 scores. The Cougars fought hard in both seeing every set against the Lancers decided by three points or less, while battling back against the Foresters after falling behind by two sets.

MATCH BREAKDOWN

SET SCORES: 23-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-22
Spring Arbor captured the first set in Friday's showdown with Grace, but the home team battled back winning the next three, including a hard-fought 27-25 third set, to clinch the match.
Kasey Follis recorded a career-high 14 kills to lead the Cougars while Alyssa Walker added 10. Courtney Kyser and Rebekah Kujat followed with eight apiece.
Sophomore setter Annica Stotz also had a career-night dishing out 41 assists with two aces and seven digs.
Four SAU players finished with double-digit digs, including Leah Rose who posted a match-high 29. Gabrielle Hilliard collected 18, Mackay Heasley had 13 and Taylor Johnston had 11.
The Lancers were led by Marta Bleed and Kaitlin Kerrigan with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

Against the Foresters, Walker put away a season-best 14 kills to pace the SAU attack. Follis chipped in nine and Kujat had seven, and Stotz finished with 37 assists.
Rose anchored the defense again with a career-high 36 digs. Walker and Stotz recorded double-doubles as Walker tallied 21 digs and Stotz ended the match with 12.
Huntington's Tailor Schultheis led the way for the home team with 11 kills. Setters Emily Hubby and Breanna Levings combined for 41 assists.

UP NEXT

Spring Arbor will visit Bethel College (9-18, 5-9 CL) on Wednesday, Oct. 26 before returning home to close out the season against Goshen College (12-16, 6-9 CL) on Friday, Oct. 28 and the University of Saint Francis (8-23, 4-11 CL) on Saturday, Oct. 29.
