SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The top-seeded, and No. 1 ranked, Spring Arbor University women's soccer team defeated eighth-seeded Goshen College 6-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals.
With the victory, the Cougars advance to the tournament semifinals where they will meet fifth-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University next Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite getting an early goal from senior Corrie Good, Spring Arbor did not start strong as it struggled to find its rhythm. The Cougars were able to stretch their lead to 2-0 by halftime though as Renee Broekhuizen found the back of the net in the 34th minute.
- In the second half, the SAU offense erupted for four goals to put the match out of reach for Goshen.
- Freshman Morgan Marshall scored a pair of goals 10 minutes apart while senior Alyssa Joseph capped the scoring with two goals of her own.
- The Cougars finished the afternoon with a 30-1 shot advantage and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
- Goalkeeper Ashley Timmons stopped the only shot she faced to record her 10th shutout of the season.
- Following the match, SAU honored its seniors Corrie Good, Rachel DeLancey, Alyssa Joseph, Tricia Slusser, Tamryn Sanderson-Smith, Hope Myers and Tara Kauffman.
FOR THE MAPLE LEAFS
- Goshen was only able to register one shot on the afternoon, which came from Carolina Villalobos.
- Natalie Thorne finished with eight saves in goal for the Maple Leafs.
