SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – A dominant first two quarters led the Spring Arbor University women's basketball team to a 68-50 victory over visiting Holy Cross College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams went back and forth over the first five minutes of the first quarter, but senior Aimee Konkel fueled a 12-0 Cougar run with a pair of three-pointers.
- In the second quarter, the SAU defense shut down the Saints, limiting them to just 3-for-18 from the field. Meanwhile, the sophomore Rachel Nelson ignited the Cougar offense with eight points in the period to give the home team a 46-21 advantage at halftime.
- Spring Arbor ballooned its lead to 28 midway through the third quarter and cruised to its third win of the season.
- Nelson finished with a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Cougars. Senior Kylie Townsley followed with 13 points, seven boards and five steals while junior Autumn Goggin posted 10 points and six rebounds. Freshman Lindsey Lehman tallied four steals to go along with her seven points and six boards.
- Spring Arbor shot 37 percent (26-for-71) from the floor while holding Holy Cross to 31 percent (20-for-65) shooting. The Cougars dominated the glass out-rebounding the Saints 57-38.
FOR THE SAINTS
- Holy Cross had two players finish in double figure scoring. Shana Anderson posted a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds while Keysha Streater finished with 10 points and eight boards.
- Jessica Norris recorded five assists and four steals.
UP NEXT
After wrapping up its four-game home stand to open the season, Spring Arbor will play its next four contests on the road beginning with a trip to Indiana University Kokomo (2-2) on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
