SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team was lights out from deep Saturday burying a program record 17 three-pointers on its way to a 106-52 victory over Grace Bible College in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars came out red-hot again jumping to a quick 9-0 lead and extending it to 24-5 prior to the under 12:00 mark. Senior guard Caleb Hogans led the charge for the Cougars as he scored 11 of SAU's first 21 points.
- The Cougars then went on a 23-0 run to push the lead to 47-8 using a pair of fast-break layups and some hot shooting from guard Tommy Hamilton, who hit three triples in as many minutes.
- Spring Arbor's nationally ranked defense proved to be too much for the Tigers early on as they held Grace Bible scoreless for more than seven minutes and turned them over 13 times in the first half.
- The Cougars headed to the break with a commanding 57-16 lead.
- Spring Arbor made history in the second half, breaking a nearly 30-year old record for most three-pointers made in a single game, which previously stood at 16. Jeff Beckman hit a triple with 6:41 remaining to tie the record. Then, with 1:09 remaining in the contest, Drew Zuidema hit his sixth triple of the afternoon to break the record.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- The Cougars held the Tigers to 16 points in the first half, their season low. SAU also held the visitors to 27 percent (16-for-59) from the field for the game.
- Spring Arbor had four in double digits led by Hogans with 23 points and a career-high 22 from Zuidema. The duo would combine to hit 11-of-16 shots from deep. Zuidema, along with Hamilton, would both dish out career-high assists with seven apiece.
- SAU scored 30 points off of 20 forced turnovers from Grace Bible.
- The Cougars recorded 32 assists on the evening.
FOR THE TIGERS
- Grace Bible was led by Jared Bradford, who had eight points and two boards.
- Marcus Chandler posted six rebounds to lead the Tigers.
- The Tigers were outrebounded 41-31 and were doubled up by the Cougars in the paint, 40-20.

Spring Arbor will hit the road on Monday, Dec. 12 for the second half of their home and home with Great Lakes Christian College. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
