LANSING, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team got back on track with two non-conference road wins over the last three days. The Cougars completed the season sweep of Rochester College with a 74-60 victory on Saturday and followed it up with a 88-33 triumph over Great Lakes Christian College on Monday night.
VS. ROCHESTER

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor snapped its four-game skid with the win over Rochester.
- The Cougars trailed by as many seven in the second quarter, but sophomore Rachel Nelson fueled an 11-0 run over the final 3:06 of the period to give SAU a 30-26 lead at halftime.
- The two teams would trade the lead early in the third quarter, however, senior Kylie Townsley and junior Autumn Goggin would combine for 14 points in the stanza to help the Cougars begin to pull away.
- Five Cougars finished in double figures, led by Townsley with 18 points, five rebounds and four steals. Aimee Konkel, chipped in 13 points, continues to approach the program's career three-point record. She knocked down three more triples to give her 191, just four shy of the all-time mark. Rachel Driesenga registered her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, Goggin added 11 points and Nelson finished with 10.
- Rochester outshot SAU, knocking down 50 percent of its shots compared to the Cougars' 40 percent. However, Spring Arbor forced the Warriors into 26 turnovers while only committing 13 giveaways themselves.
FOR THE WARRIORS
- Maddy Valko and Bethany McCord paced Rochester with 18 and 15 points, respectively. Casey Bowdell dished out four assists and Allyssa Copley hauled in nine boards.
- The Warriors, which suffered their fifth loss in six contests, were held to their third-lowest scoring total of the season.
VS. GREAT LAKES CHRISTIAN

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor made quick work of Great Lakes Christian, jumping out to a 25-2 lead after the first quarter and never looking back.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Shields and sophomore Kristina Grace both recorded double-doubles to lead the way for the Cougars. Shields posted 16 points and 14 rebounds – both season-highs – while Grace also finished with a career-best 16 points and 13 boards, which matched her career-high.
- Townsley added 11 points and a team-high four assists while freshman Lindsey Lehman chipped in 10 points and nine steals.
- Spring Arbor shot 47 percent from the field while limiting Great Lakes Christian to 20 percent.
FOR THE LAKES
- Icesis Chadler-Poole paced Great Lakes Christian with 17 points and seven rebounds. Valerie Murillo finished with nine points and six boards.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will return home to take on Indiana University-South Bend () on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. The Cougars will then travel west for the Arizona Christian University Classic in Phoenix, Arizona on Dec. 28-29.
