SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team picked up its third straight win on Saturday, defeating Indiana University-South Bend 65-35 in non-conference action. The Cougars' defense was dominant holding the Titans to 23 percent shooting and their lowest scoring total of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor set the tone early. After an Indiana-South Bend bucket to tie the score 4-4, SAU tallied 17 straight points. Senior Aimee Konkel, who recorded eight points in the quarter, capped the run with her second three-pointer of the afternoon.
- After limiting the Titans to eight points in the first period, the Cougar defense conceded just seven in the second, holding IU-SB to 3-for-15 shooting in the stanza. Spring Arbor would take a 32-15 advantage into halftime.
- In the third quarter, SAU was red-hot behind the arc getting a pair of three's from Rachel Nelson and another from Autumn Goggin to extend the lead to 24, 43-19, and put the contest out of reach.
- Goggin led the way for the Cougars with 15 points while Nelson finished with 13. Konkel also scored in double figures with 11 points while Kylie Townsley chipped in nine points and six rebounds. Karly Bender dished out eight assists, which matched her career-high, while also picking up two steals.
- Spring Arbor shot 38 percent from the field while limiting Indiana-South Bend to 23 percent. The Cougars, who rank third in the NAIA in three-point field goal percent defense, held the Titans to just 2-for-14 from long range.
- The Cougars forced the Titans into 17 turnovers, which SAU converted into 18 points.
- The game marked the sixth time this season that SAU held its opponent to 50 points or less, and the second straight game under 40 points.
FOR THE TITANS
- Sarah Rogian and Loren Vukovits were the leading scorers for Indiana-South Bend with eight and seven points, respectively. All eight Titan players that saw the floor recorded at least two points.
- Lucy Presnal registered a game-high 13 rebounds.
- The loss was the fourth for the Titans in their last five games.
- Indiana-South Bend, which averages 64.3 points per game, was held to its lowest point total of the season. The team's 12 made field goals were also a season-low.

Spring Arbor will travel to Phoenix, Arizona for the Arizona Christian University Holiday Classic on Dec. 28-29. The Cougars will take on Carroll College (7-3) on Wednesday, Dec. 28 and Mount Marty College (8-6) on Thursday, Dec. 29.
