HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Indiana Wesleyan came out of the gates strong, challenging top-ranked Spring Arbor. The Cougar defense and goalkeeper Allison Keizer withstood the early pressure, though, and kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard.
  • Spring Arbor broke the deadlock in the 39th minute and never looked back. The Cougars drew a foul just outside the 18-yard box, and Broekhuizen ripped the free kick past the diving keeper and just inside the far post.
  • Despite dominating the second half, the score remained 1-0 until a failed clear attempt in the 64th minute by the home team resulted in another SAU goal. Morgan Marshall took the ball off the feet of the IWU defender and found Good who chipped the netminder.
  • Keizer stopped a career-high six shots to record her second shutout of the season.
  • Spring Arbor outshot Indiana Wesleyan 12-9 overall, but the Wildcats held a slight 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Both sides registered three corner kicks apiece.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

  • Tonight's victory gives Spring Arbor six straight wins over Indiana Wesleyan, and 28 consecutive overall.
  • The shutout was the eighth of the campaign for SAU, which is tied for the most in the country. The Cougars are also one of just two teams to allow less than two goals this season.
  • Additionally, Spring Arbor is also tied for the most overall wins in the country, and are one of three teams with a perfect 9-0 mark.

FOR THE FOES

  • Nichole Varady led all Wildcats with four shots, including two on target. Emily Boss followed with two while three other IWU players recorded one attempt.
  • Goalkeeper Alex Seabeck finished the match with three saves.
