SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team rallied all the way back from a 12-point third quarter deficit, but a late fourth quarter dry spell would ultimately cost the Cougars as they fell 62-51 to Goshen College on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter saw four lead changes with neither team ever leading by more than four points. Spring Arbor trailed 13-9 at the 3:06 mark of the period, but six straight points from Rachel Nelson put the Cougars in front. Goshen, however, would end the frame on a 5-0 run to grab an 18-15 advantage.
- Goshen turned up the defensive intensity in the second quarter and would limit SAU to just 1-for-11 shooting in the period while also forcing the Cougars into eight turnovers. The Maple Leafs took a 30-22 lead into halftime.
- The visitors scored the first four points of the third quarter to open its largest lead of the night, 34-22, but the Cougars would claw their way back. Kylie Townsley sparked a 7-0 run with five consecutive points, and a pair of late free throws from Nelson got SAU within three, 43-40, heading to the final period.
- Back-to-back buckets by Autumn Goggin and Aimee Konkel to open the fourth quarter gave Spring Arbor its first lead since early on in the contest. The lead would change hands three more times in the stanza before a 6-0 Maple Leaf scoring spurt gave the lead for good.
- Goshen would hold Spring Arbor scoreless from the field over the final 7:26 of the fourth quarter while shooting 12-for-17 from the charity stripe to secure the victory.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Goggin and Nelson led the way for Spring Arbor with 13 points apiece while Konkel and Townsley followed with eight each. In addition to her eight points, Townsley also hauled in 13 rebounds, which matched her career-high. Rachel Driesenga ripped down a season-best 14 boards to go along with five points.
- Spring Arbor was held to 27 percent (15-for-56) shooting, including 2-for-16 from three-point range. The Cougars finished 19-for-22 at the free throw line.
FOR THE MAPLE LEAFS
- Goshen was led by Lynnia Noel, who registered her first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sophia Sears added 16 points, nine boards and seven assists while Sydney Stein chipped in 14 points.
- The Maple Leafs did not shoot much better, connecting on only 28 percent (19-for-69) of their field goal attempts, including a 2-for-20 mark from behind the arc. The visitors held a 51-48 edge in rebounding, but also outscored SAU 34-16 in the paint.
