MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team battled back-and-forth with Bethel College through five sets Wednesday night, but the Cougars ultimately dropped a 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 28-26, 22-25, 15-12) decision to the Pilots.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor and Bethel split the first two sets before the Pilots edged the Cougars 28-26 in a thrilling third set. SAU fought off a pair of set points before the home team was finally able to put it away.
- The Cougars bounced back though in the fourth set, using a 10-2 run to erase an 18-13 deficit and forcing a fifth set.
- Bethel jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the fifth frame, but SAU continued to battle, closing the gap to 11-10. The Pilots managed to hang on, however, and escape with the win.
- Sydney Ritz finished with a team-high 17 kills. Alison Ford followed with 12 and Kasey Follis added 10. Setters Annica Stotz and Hope Notter combined for 48 assists.
- Stephaney Fifield picked up a team-best 26 digs while Paige Porter collected a season-high 19. Kyara Black recorded six blocks, including two solos.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor currently sits in fifth place in the Crossroads League standings with one week remaining in the regular season. The Cougars will host first place, and No. 24 ranked, Marian University (23-4, 13-2 CL) on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
