HELENA, Mont. – A pair of exciting, competitive matches did not go in favor of the Cougars in their final two matches of the Big Sky Challenge on Saturday.
Spring Arbor opened the day with a 3-1 setback to Rocky Mountain College before falling to host Carroll College 3-1 in the final match.
VS. ROCKY MOUNTAIN

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor claimed the first set and Rocky Mountain won the second.
- In the third set, SAU trailed 24-21 but back-to-back kills from Natasha Bickel and Abigail Fernihough brought the Cougars back within one. However, the Battlin' Bears would hold off the late charge to grab a 2-sets-to-1 advantage.
- The fourth set was also back-and-forth. Spring Arbor held a 23-18 lead late but Rocky Mountain would fight its way back to tie the score 24-24 before winning the set in extra points.
- Kendall Bollenbacher posted a match-best 20 kills and added nine digs. Mikenna Kwiatkowski added 11 kills and three blocks. Camy Wedge and Hayden Fortress finished with 30 and 28 assists, respectively. Frances Churchwell tallied 29 digs and two aces.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- After dropping the first set, Spring Arbor answered back with a win in set two.
- In the third set, the Cougars used a late 6-0 run to get within two, 24-22, but Carroll held on to take control of the match.
- The fourth set was close late as well with the Fighting Saints clinging to a 22-20 before eventually claiming the set and the match with a 25-21 win.
- Bollenbacher and Keely Hinzman finished with double-digit kills. Bollenbacher had 12 and Hinzman ended with 10 while adding five blocks. Fortress collected 24 assists, 10 digs and two aces on the evening. Churchwell picked up 29 digs while Kirstyn Throop had 13 and Abby Rissman had 10.
