JOLIET, Ill. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team kicked off play at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Big Dogs Classic with a five-set victory over the University of the Cumberlands.
The Cougars would finish the day 1-1 after dropping a four-set decision to Indiana Tech.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor lost the first two sets of the match but rallied back and won three straight to grab its first win of the Big Dogs Classic.
- Three Cougars recorded double-digit kills, including a match-high 18 from Kendall Bollenbacher. Mikenna Kwiatkowski followed with 14 while hitting at a .414 clip and Keely Hinzman added 13 to go along with three aces and four blocks.
- Hayden Fortress finished with 35 assists and 14 digs. Frances Churchwell picked up a team-leading 23 digs and Abby Rissman registered 14.

- Bollenbacher led SAU with 10 kills while Kelsie Lilly followed with nine and Hinzman and Natasha Bickel added six each. Hinzman also recorded five blocks.
- Fortress and Camy Wedge combined for 25 assists. Churchwell finished with 16 digs.
