Volleyball drops pair of Crossroads League matches

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to the top two teams in the Crossroads League over the weekend. The Cougars fell on the road to No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan University 3-0 on Friday night and suffered a four-set loss to Marian University at home on Saturday.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Indiana Wesleyan remained undefeated and atop the league standings after defeating Spring Arbor on Friday night.
  • Kendall Bollenbacher had a team-best seven kills and added two aces while Abigail Fernihough registered four kills. Hayden Fortress finished with 11 assists and 11 digs and Frances Churchwell picked up 15 digs.
  • Indiana Wesleyan had three players finish with double digit kills, including Eva Joldersma, who posted a match-high 14.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor hosted second place Marian on Saturday for homecoming. The Cougars were able to edge the visitors in a thrilling 29-27 first set, but the Knights bounced back and claimed the next three sets.
  • Bollenbacher led the Cougars with 16 kills while also scooping up a season-high 21 digs.
  • Natasha Bickel logged eight kills and Kelsie Lilly contributed seven. Fortress and Camy Wedge dished out 19 assists each. Fortress also had 15 digs and Wedge had 13 digs and three aces.
  • Marian's Khori Dryden finished with 14 kills and Gabby Fish followed with 13.
