Women’s Bowling claims third straight CL title

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Spring Arbor University women's bowling team captured the Crossroads League regular season championship for the third consecutive season at Crossroads League Tournament #4 on Friday, held at Colonial City Lanes in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

The Cougars finished second out of seven teams at the final league tournament of the year, just two pins behind first place Huntington University. Montana Hernandez led the way for SAU, finishing second in the 65-player field with 844 pins over four games.

The second place team finish gave Spring Arbor enough points in the conference standings to secure the regular season crown. Along with Friday's performance, SAU won the first three league tournaments this year giving the team 62 total points, eight more than conference runner-up Marian University, which finished with 54. The Cougars also racked up 26,046 pins over the four tournaments, 626 more than the next closest team.

Teams earned points based on their finish in each of the four conference events: 1st – 16 points, 2nd – 14 points, 3rd – 12 points, 4th – 10 points, 5th – 8 points, 6th – 6 points, 7th – 4 points.

Up next is the Crossroads League Championship, which will take place on Thursday, Feb. 29 at JAX 60 in Jackson, Michigan.
