Stewart hits NAIA mark, SAU records 10 wins at WMU

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Spring Arbor University's Emma Stewart hit the NAIA A Standard in the pole vault at the Western Michigan University Jack Shaw Invitational over the weekend while the Cougars also claimed 10 event wins.

Stewart punched her ticket to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships after hitting an automatic qualifying mark. The freshman from Westland, Michigan cleared 3.76m (12' 4") – the second-best mark in SAU history – on her way to winning the event.

Along with Stewart's win in the pole vault, Spring Arbor finished first in nine other events, including two by Josiah Fitch. Fitch took home the gold in the shot put and the hammer, which he bettered his own school record with a mark of 52.70m (172' 11").
