FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team closed out play at the Onset Invitational with a pair of wins on Friday.
Spring Arbor opened the day with an impressive 3-1 victory over previously undefeated Columbia International University, who is receiving votes in the national rankings. The Cougars followed with a 3-1 win over West Virginia University Tech.
Spring Arbor posted a 3-1 record over two days at the tournament.
Kendall Bollenbacher racked up a team-best 59 kills in four matches and
Camy Wedge handed out 111 assists.
Kirstyn Throop and
Julia Mitchell led the defensive effort. Throop collected 98 digs, including a career-best 30 in the win over Columbia International, while Mitchell finished 16 total blocks.

MATCH NOTES
- Spring Arbor jumped up 2-1 after the first three sets.
- With the score tied 26-26 in the fourth set, a kill by Izzy Kirkendall gave the Cougars the lead and a block from Julia Mitchell clinched the match, dealing a previously undefeated Columbia International its first loss of the season.
- Kendall Bollenbacher put down a team-high 15 kills and Kirkendall followed with 10. Camy Wedge and Gabby Bryja combined for 43 assists.
- Kirstyn Throop recorded a career-high 30 digs to anchor the defense while Mitchell finished with five blocks.

MATCH NOTES
- Spring Arbor won the first sets convincingly. West Virginia Tech avoided the sweep with win in set three, but the Cougars were able to close out the match in four.
- Three Cougars recorded double-digit kills. Bollenbacher had 17, Natasha Bickel had 13 and Keely Hinzman chipped in 12.
- Wedge picked up her fourth double-double in four matches with 28 assists and 11 digs. Throop finished with a team-high 25 digs.
