JACKSON, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University bowling teams kicked off the 2024-25 season at the Concordia University Dirty Bird Classic on Saturday at JAX 60 in Jackson.
The SAU women's team claimed first place in the 14-team field and won the match play portion of the tournament as well, while the men's squad finished third out of 15 teams.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
- The Spring Arbor women's team posted a final score of 4443 to win the event by 69 pins. In match play, the Cougars defeated Madonna in two straight games before knocking off host Concordia in the finals 3-1.
- The SAU men's team logged 4696 total pins, finishing 166 behind winner Concordia.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Kayla Tafanelli and Kassidy Alexander led the way for the women's team finishing third and fourth, respectively. Tafanelli knocked down 567 pins over three games and Alexander followed with 559. Montana Hernandez finished just outside the top-10 in 11th place with 532 pins.
- On the men's side, Carson Kohler placed second overall with 649 pins, including a high-game of 230 – finishing just 19 pins behind the winner. Freshman Owen Williams came in 11th place with a score of 591.
