COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Spring Arbor University women's cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Gans Creek Classic on Friday morning at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, home of the 2024 NAIA Cross Country National Championships.
The meet, hosted by the University of Missouri, had more than 60 teams in attendance and was divided into two races, a Division I race and an Open race. The Open race, which had 26 squads in the field, featured seven NAIA teams that were either ranked or receiving votes.
Spring Arbor finished 16th with a team time of 2:00:32. Several SAU runners had personal-best times, including
Cylee Elkins, who led the way for the Cougars with a 23:38.
Shelby Cade and
Madyson Oudbier were close behind in 23:45 and 23:51.
NCAA Division II Fort Hays State claimed first place and was followed by No. 4 ranked Taylor University.
