Khon named National Athlete of the Week

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University's Camden Khon has been selected as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week.

Khon becomes the first athlete in SAU history to win the award during cross country season.

Khon, who was also named the Crossroads League Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, earned the honor after claiming first place at the Crossroads League Championship on Friday. The junior standout from Armada, Michigan completed the 8k race on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in a career-best and course record time of 24:14 – more than 12 seconds ahead of second place.

It was the first win by an SAU runner at the conference meet since Kyle Anderson captured first place in 2013.

Khon's performance helped lead Spring Arbor to a third place team finish – just two points behind second place Taylor University, which is ranked No. 4 nationally.

No. 18 ranked Spring Arbor turns its focus now to the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship. The 70th annual championship meet is set for Friday, Nov. 21 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
