Volleyball rebounds with sweep of Oakland City following league setback

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – No. 23 Spring Arbor dropped its Crossroads League road match to No. 16 Mount Vernon Nazarene University 3-0 on Saturday but bounced back in convincing fashion with a 3-0 sweep of Oakland City University in a non-conference contest later in the day.

Spring Arbor is now 16-5 overall on the season with a 3-6 mark in conference play.

Spring Arbor was unable to slow down a strong MVNU attack in the opener. The home team hit .311 on the afternoon while holding SAU to .074.
 
Kendall Bollenbacher had a team-high five kills with 10 digs. Keely Hinzman had four kills on seven swings for a .429 hitting percentage. Camy Wedge finished with 13 assists and eight digs.

Spring Arbor regrouped quickly, however, and turned in a dominant performance against Oakland City. The Cougars hit .368 as a team and cruised to the sweep.
 
Kelsie Lilly was efficient at the net, putting down seven kills on just 11 swings (.636), while Isabelle Kirkendall recorded a team-high nine kills. Hinzman added six kills and a pair of service aces, and Gabby Bryja and Wedge directed the offense with a combined 29 assists. Defensively, Aliza Munro led with seven digs and Julia Mitchell contributed three blocks.
 

The Cougars travel to Huntington University on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
