TECUMSEH, Mich. – Spring Arbor University's
Zach Koch captured medalist honors for the second consecutive year at the Irish Hills Invitational, while the Cougars climbed three spots on the final day to finish tied for third in the 11-team field.
Koch entered Saturday's final round in second place after opening the tournament with an even-par 72 on Friday. The senior followed with a two-under-par 70 in the second round to finish with a 36-hole total of 142 and claim the individual title by one stroke.
The victory marked the fifth tournament title of Koch's career. After earning his first medalist honor at the Irish Hills Invitational in 2025, Koch went on to win four tournaments during the season.
Spring Arbor also made a significant move up the team leaderboard Saturday. The Cougars opened the tournament with a 311 on Friday and entered the final round in sixth place.
SAU responded with a 296 on Saturday, a 15-stroke improvement from its opening round. The Cougars' final-round score matched Calvin University for the lowest team round of the day and moved Spring Arbor three spots up the standings.
The Cougars finished with a two-round total of 607, tying Albion College and Kalamazoo College for third place. Adrian College captured the team title with a 600, while Calvin finished runner-up at 603.
