Women's Soccer Sinks Pilots in CL Quarterfinals

The Spring Arbor University women's soccer team controlled the match and scratched out a pair of goals to advance past the Bethel College Pilots in the quarterfinal round of the Crossroads League women's soccer tournament on Saturday.

Senior Karly Linton recorded both markers for SAU (see below), less than two minutes apart, late in the first half to give the Cougars the victory.  Linton fired 13 shots in the contest and put nine of those efforts on frame.  Spring Arbor was credited with 34 shots in the match, placing 20 on goal and forcing Pilot goalkeeper Mallory Conrad into a whopping 17 saves.  The Lady Cougars also rang the post three times in the second half.

Linton leads the NAIA in goals scored this season with 24.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Yancer went the distance for SAU, recording a pair of saves to earn the shutout.  Bethel was credited with five shots in the match.

The win moves NAIA #9 ranked Spring Arbor to 16-2-1 on the year.  The Lady Cougars will now face off with Huntington University next Saturday in the semi-final round of the tournament.  Huntington dispatched of Mount Vernon Nazarene University 2-1 in double overtime to advance.  Spring Arbor defeated Huntington 2-0 earlier in the season.  Kickoff time will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
