ADRIAN, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's tennis team suffered its first setback of the spring season falling 7-2 at Adrian College on Thursday.
The loss dropped the Cougars to 3-9 overall while the Bulldogs improved to 4-1.
Adrian started the match by taking the top two doubles matches, defeating Michael Darling and Jesse DeBoer 8-5 on the No. 1 court before downing John Hall and Tony Mayotte 8-4 at No. 2. The team of Andrew Herlein and Andrew Fitzpatrick picked up a point for the Cougars, though, with their 8-6 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Jacob Byrd earned the lone victory, prevailing in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Spring Arbor will visit Albion College on Mar. 5 before returning home to host Trine University on Mar. 26.
