GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's tennis team entered Thursday's match as winners of three straight, but Davenport University proved to be too much as the Cougars fell to the Panthers 8-1.
The Cougars fell behind early dropping two of the three doubles points. Reigning Crossroads League Player of the Week Michael Darling and Jesse DeBoer prevented the sweep by winning a close 9-7 match in the No. 1 doubles spot.
In singles competition, Davenport was dominant sweeping all six points. DeBoer battled in a tight race at the No. 2 position falling 7-5 in the opening set before taking the second 7-6. However, he would drop the third 10-5, as the Panthers wrapped up the win.
The Cougars will finish their spring campaign at Cornerstone University on Tuesday, Apr. 21 at 4 p.m.
