Men's Tennis earns 6-3 win over Bethel

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's tennis team earned a 6-3 win over Bethel College in Crossroads League action on Thursday afternoon at the Cougar Tennis Courts.

With the win, the Cougars improved to 2-5 overall, and in the conference, while the Pilots dropped to 2-8 with a 0-5 mark in league play.

Spring Arbor started the afternoon by winning four of the six singles matches – all coming in straight sets. Senior Jesse DeBoer won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 while freshman Nick Romano cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Junior Jacob Byrd claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 4 position, and freshman Sam Head prevailed 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6.

In doubles competition, DeBoer and Romano rolled past the Pilot duo of Luke Prude and Nick Kindig 8-3 at No. 1 to clinch the match. Junior Vincent McShane and Byrd also edged out Jacob Macri and Matt Kempf at No. 2 doubles 9-7.

Spring Arbor will wrap up its regular season conference schedule with a trip to Huntington University (2-6, 2-3 CL) on Saturday, Sept. 26. The match is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
