Box Score 2 SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk-off with a 4-3 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University in game one of Tuesday's Crossroads League doubleheader.
Freshman Jessie Panchaud delivered a two-RBI triple to tie the score and Jade Nowe allowed Panchaud to cross the plate as the game-winning run with an RBI groundout.
In the second game of the afternoon, SAU was unable to get its offense going, suffering a 1-0 shutout as Mount Vernon Nazarene escaped with a split.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Mount Vernon Nazarene scored three runs in the top of the first inning to grab an early lead.
- After surrendering the early runs, senior pitcher Lauren Wirgau settled in and held MVNU scoreless over the final six frames.
- Spring Arbor got on the scoreboard in the third inning when Panchaud scored on a base hit by Nowe.
- Trailing 3-1 in the seventh, Maddison Brock got the rally started with a leadoff double. Sarah Matlock came through with a pinch-hit single to put runners on the corners with one out when Panchaud delivered the big hit, ripping a triple into the right field corner driving in a pair of runs. Two batters later, Panchaud scored the game-winning run on a groundout by Nowe.
- SAU recorded 10 hits in the game. Panchaud went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored while Chloe Gignac and Leah Denome also had two hits each.
- Wirgau went the distance in the circle for the fourth time this season and improved her record to 5-2.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Mount Vernon Nazarene scored the game's only run in the first inning. A two-out double by Katelyn Perkins drove in Kaycee Ollis from first base.
- Spring Arbor was limited to just three hits.
- Melody Donovan pitched all seven innings and allowed only one run on eight hits and struck out two batters.
UP NEXT
Due to the inclement weather in the forecast, Spring Arbor's home doubleheader against Huntington University originally scheduled for Friday, Mar. 13 will now be played on Thursday, Mar. 12 starting at 3 p.m.
