Cougars fall on final day of Warner Invitational

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team closed out its spring trip with a 5-0 loss to the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) in the Warner Invitational Saturday.

Saint Francis (14-8) jumped on top early with two runs in the first inning and that was all support USF pitcher Michael Quiram needed.

Conner Lengerich and Alex Holley picked up two hits apiece to lead the offense. Jeremiah Johnson and Adam Rojas also recorded one hit each.

Spencer Goebel suffered the loss giving up five runs on nine hits in five innings of work. Joe Romence added one scoreless inning of relief.

Spring Arbor (3-7) will return to Michigan to host Madonna University (6-9) in its home opener on Saturday, Mar. 19. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
