Box Score 2 GOSHEN, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team traveled to Goshen College Tuesday afternoon to take on the Maple Leafs in its Crossroads League opener. The Cougars were shutout 3-0 in the first game, but bounced back to defeat GC 16-3 in the nightcap.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Goshen went up 2-0 early on a two-run home run by Vincent Caschera in the top of the first inning. The Maple Leafs would also score a single run in the sixth to extend their lead.
- The Cougars threatened in the seventh, loading the bases with two outs, but Goshen was able to escape the jam unscathed.
- SAU was limited to just five hits, including two each from Tyler Reed and James Hall.
- Sophomore Duncan Patterson pitched a complete game allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- It was Goshen who drew first blood again in game two with a pair of run in the first inning, but Spring Arbor answered immediately with five in the home half of the inning – highlighted by a two RBI single by Francisco Ondina – and never looked back.
- After plating two more runs in the second to grab a 7-2 advantage, SAU tallied six runs in the fourth inning to break things wide open.
- Nine different Cougars recorded at least one hit in the contest while Chris Triplett picked up two while also scoring three runs.
- Andrew Manier earned the win pitching five innings allowing just one earned run on five hits while fanning six batters. Nick Carroll closed out the game tossing two scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts.
