UPLAND, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team dropped both games of its Crossroads League doubleheader at Taylor University on Monday. The Cougars fell 13-5 in the opener and 16-6 in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• The Trojans would plate all the runs they needed in the first inning, scoring eight times to grab an early 8-0 lead.
• Spring Arbor scored four unanswered runs over the second and third innings to cut the deficit in half. Alex Holley scored on an RBI groundout by Kyle Harris in the second, and Chris Triplett, Tyler Reed and Harris all recorded RBI hits in the third.
• Taylor responded with three runs in the fourth, however, to put the game out of reach.
• Triplett went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Harris picked up two RBI and a run scored.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• Spring Arbor was unable to slow down the Taylor offense in game two as the Trojans pounded out 16 runs on 17 hits.
• The Cougars got on the scoreboard first with a three run first inning – highlighted by a two-run triple by Reed.
• The home team scored in each of the first five innings to build an 11-6 lead en route to its 10th win in the last 11 games.
• Reed finished the game going 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and a home run. He also drove in four runs and scored twice. Jack Driscoll also recorded two hits and scored two runs.

UP NEXT

Spring Arbor will travel to Grand Rapids to take on Davenport University (20-10) in non-league action on Tuesday, Mar. 28 before returning home to Goshen College (14-12-1, 4-4 CL) in its home opener on Wednesday, Mar. 29 starting at 3 p.m.
