Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team scored six combined runs in the fourth and fifth innings to overcome the Goshen College Maple Leafs 8-2 in their home opener Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maple Leafs started off the top of the first inning with Preston Carr scoring the first run of the game.
- In the bottom of the third inning, Christian Davis and Francisco Ondina hit singles, while Chris Triplett bunted and brought Alex Holley in for the Cougars' first run.
- Ondina showed up again in the bottom of the fourth, hitting a double to bring in James Hall, Tyce Clement and Holley.
- After gaining the lead, Andrew Wright kept the momentum in the Cougars favor with a scorless fifth inning, including striking out two batters.
- The Maple Leafs could not stop the Cougars' momentum, allowing three more runs in the home half of the fifth. Hall smacked a double to bring Tyler Reed and Nick Harris across the plate. Davis also doubled allowing Hall to score the seventh run of the game.
- Drew Weston pitched in the 7th inning, struck out a batter and allowed 0 runs.
- To cap the scoring, Holley scored on a sacrifice fly by Ondina in the eighth inning.
- Elijah Brook pitched a dominant ninth inning, striking out one batter and allowing zero runs.
- Ondina went 2-for-3 at the plate recording four RBI. Hall went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Holley rounded the bases three times for the Cougars.
- Wright improved to 3-0 on the mound this season. The right-hander pitched six innings allowing two runs on three hits while striking out a career-high six batters.
