Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Spring Arbor University baseball team dropped both ends of its Crossroads League doubleheader with Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday afternoon.
Mount Vernon Nazarene used an eight-run fifth inning to come away with a 12-8 win in game one. The home team then scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to edge SAU 6-4 in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- A two-out RBI single by Francisco Ondina in the top of the second inning put Spring Arbor on the board first, but Mount Vernon Nazarene answered with a run of their own in the home half of the frame to tie the score.
- The Cougars regained the lead with two runs in the third. Conner Lengerich drove in Jack Driscoll with a base hit. Tyler Reed would also cross the plate on a balk.
- MVNU would tally 11 unanswered runs over the next two innings, however, to pull ahead for good.
- Spring Arbor cut into the deficit with five runs in the sixth inning, including a three-run homer by Christian Daivs, but that was as close as SAU would get.
- Alex Holley, Ondina and Reed picked up two hits apiece. Lengerich also finished with two RBI.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- In game two, Spring Arbor trailed 3-1 heading into the seventh inning. Davis smashed his second homer of the afternoon to open the frame and get the Cougars within one. Holley followed with a base hit and, three batters later, he would score. Chris Triplett capped the three-run inning for SAU when he crossed the plate on a base hit by Reed.
- Andrew Wright limited one of the top offenses in the conference to just three runs through the first seven innings, but Mount Vernon Nazarene erupted for three runs in the eighth to retake the lead.
- Davis finished the game going 2-for-4. His two home runs on the day were the first two of his career.
- Wright pitched seven innings allowing five runs on six hits while striking out six.

Spring Arbor will look to snap its three-game skid when it welcomes Bethel College (15-13, 5-11 CL) to Hank Burbridge Field on Friday, Apr. 14. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
