Box Score 2 LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team opened Crossroads League with a pair of contests against Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Lakes Wales, Florida. The Cougars dropped both ends of the doubleheader, 5-3 and 12-1.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor jumped on top 2-0 in the top of the second inning on RBI singles by Josiah Kitchen and Brant Mast.
- The score was tied 3-3 in the sixth inning when Mount Vernon Nazarene plated the go-ahead run on a base hit by Toby Walker. MVNU would tack on an insurance run later in the inning when Walker scored on a sacrifice fly.
- Spring Arbor collected 10 hits in the game, including three from Mast. Jacob King and Kitchen posted two hits apiece.
- Duncan Patterson pitched 5.2 innings, surrendering four earned runs on 11 hits.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor was unable to get the bats going in game two of the doubleheader. The Cougars were limited to just one run on six hits.
- Already leading 1-0, Mount Vernon Nazarene added to its advantage with a seven-run second inning.
- MVNU put the game out of reach with another run in the fourth before tacking on three more in the sixth.
- Chris Triplett had two of SAU's six hits while Brant Mast scored the lone run.
- Zachariah Devon suffered the loss on the mound allowing seven runs in 1.1 innings pitched. Nick Carroll and Zach Kraabel combined for 4.2 innings of relief.
