Box Score AVON PARK, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team fell to Mount Vernon Nazarene University 5-3 during the final day of competition at the Warner University Invitational on Saturday.
Spring Arbor trailed by four heading into the bottom of the seventh before a two-run home run by Chris Triplett closed the gap to two. But, that was as close as the Cougars would get.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A two-run homer by Devin Pearl punctuated a three-run first inning for Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Cougars would get one run back in the home half of the frame on an RBI single by Jacob King.
- That was how the score stayed until the fourth inning when MVNU added on to its lead with two runs.
- SAU still trailed 5-1 entering the bottom of the seventh. Peyton Harding reached base on an error to lead off the inning and, two batters later, Triplett homered to narrow the deficit to two. However, MVNU would retire the next two batters to halt the rally.
- Triplett and King picked up two hits apiece to pace the Cougars.
- Gavin Harris pitched five innings allowing five runs on five hits. Jon Williams came out of the pen and tossed two shutout innings.
