Box Score 2 SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Home runs by Conner Lengerich and Vincent Herschberger highlighted an offensive explosion in game two of Tuesday's doubleheader as the Spring Arbor University baseball team defeated Indiana Wesleyan 17-6 to claim the series win.
The Wildcats avoided a series sweep after escaping with a 5-3 win over the Cougars in the first game of the twin bill.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Lengerich gave Spring Arbor an early lead with a solo blast in the bottom of the first inning.
- Indiana Wesleyan would score single runs in each of the five innings, however. The Wildcats took advantage of the free bases they were given from seven walks and three hit-by-pitches.
- The Cougars cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fifth with a two-RBI single by Herschberger.
- SAU put the tying run in scoring position in the sixth, but was unable to cash in on the opportunity.
- Herschberger was 3-for-4 with two RBI's while Evan Lorey, Chris Triplett and Lengerich all scored.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- A three-run Herschberger home run highlighted a four-run first inning for Spring Arbor in game two.
- That was just the start of an offensive eruption for the Cougars, who scored a season-high 17 runs in the contest. SAU would go on to score in every inning except the fourth, including five times in the fifth – highlighted by a three-run bomb from Lengerich.
- Spring Arbor pounded out 15 hits with five players recording a multi-hit game. Lengerich was 3-for-4 with three RBI's while Herschberger was 2-for-3 with four RBI's. Triplett finished with three RBI's and three runs scored while also stealing two bases. Brant Mast crossed the plate four times to go along with a pair of hits.
- Zachariah Devon earned the win on the mound. The senior right-hander pitched five innings allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five.
