HOW IT HAPPENED
- After two scoreless innings, Spring Arbor broke the deadlock with a run in the top of the third. Zach Kraabel, who led off the frame with a double, was moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Josiah Kitchen, and crossed the plate on a base hit by Evan Lorey.
- Taylor responded immediately with four runs in the home half of the inning. Ben Kalbaugh got things started with a solo home run to centerfield and four batters later TJ Bass hit a three-run shot to put the Trojans on top.
- The Cougars would get one run back in the fourth when Vincent Herschberger scored on a wild pitch, but were held scoreless the rest of the way. The key hit eluded SAU over the next few innings, stranding a pair of runners in the fifth and sixth, and another in the seventh and ninth.
- Jacob King picked up two of Spring Arbor's seven hits going 2-for-4 with a double.
- Duncan Patterson pitched all eight innings. Outside of the fourth inning when Taylor scored four runs on four hits, the senior right-hander allowed only four hits and posted seven scoreless frames.
