Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Senior Conner Lengerich hit his fifth home run of the season and drove in four runs as the Spring Arbor University baseball team defeated Goshen College 9-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Hank Burbridge Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor tallied the first five runs of the game, including a two-run homer by Lengerich in the bottom of the first inning.
- A sacrifice fly by Jacob King allowed Lengerich to score in the third inning before SAU tacked on two more runs unearned runs in the fourth.
- Goshen cut into the deficit with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, but the Cougars answered with two of their own in the sixth to extend the lead back to five, 7-2. Brant Mast crossed the plate on a Maple Leaf error and Evan Lorey scored on a double steal.
- Spring Arbor added two more insurance runs in the eighth. After a one out single by Chris Triplett, Lengerich tripled to center field. The very next batter, Vincent Herschberger followed with a base hit to drive in Lengerich.
- Goshen pushed three runs across in the ninth to close the gap to four, but Hershberger would strikeout the last batter of the game on his way to earning his second save of the season.
- Lengerich was 2-for-4 with a home run and a triple. He also scored three times, matched his season-high with four RBI's and stole two bases. Herschberger, Mast and Triplett all collected three hits on the day.
- Duncan Patterson earned his sixth win of the season on the mound. The senior right-hander gave up two runs on six hits over six innings pitched and struck out six batters. Herschberger worked the final three innings and fanned four batters.
