Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team trailed by six runs after the top of the first inning, but fought its way back to win the series finale against Mount Vernon Nazarene University 11-8 on Saturday.
Nick Carroll hit his first career homer while Vincent Herschberger belted his second in as many days. Evan Lorey also hit an inside-the-park home run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mount Vernon Nazarene plated six runs in the top of the first inning, but Spring Arbor answered immediately with five in the home half of the frame. With two runs already in, Lorey hit a three-run inside-the-park home run to get the Cougars within one, 6-5.
- Herschberger hit his second home run of the series in the third inning to tie the score, 6-6. Then, in the fourth inning, Carroll crushed the first home run of his career, a solo shot, to put SAU on top 7-6.
- After MVNU tied the score in the fifth inning, Spring Arbor erupted for four runs in the sixth. Carroll drove in a pair of runs with a triple before scoring on a groundout by Peyton Harding. Brant Mast also delivered an RBI hit in the inning.
- Glenn Miller went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Brandon Haynes, Zach Kraabel and Carroll all picked up two hits apiece.
- Kraabel also earned the win on the mound, giving up just one run over five innings of relief. Herschberger retired MVNU in order in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.
