SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University is receiving votes in the final regular season edition of the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released by the national office on Wednesday.
Head coach
Betsy Martinez and the Cougars finished the regular season winning three out of four matches, including a 3-1 victory over Huntington University, which is also receiving votes in the poll. The team also picked up its first postseason win since the 2011 campaign, going on the road to defeat receiving votes Taylor University 3-0 in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals.
Spring Arbor is one of six Crossroads League teams in the rankings. Joining SAU is, No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 12 Mount Vernon Nazarene while Huntington, Taylor and Marian are also receiving votes.
Kendall Bollenbacher and
Kelsie Lilly lead the SAU attack, averaging 2.74 and 2.39 kills per set, while
Keely Hinzman leads the Crossroads League in total blocks (137) and blocks per set (1.19).
Spring Arbor (23-9) will take on the league's regular season champion Indiana Wesleyan (25-4) in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in Marion, Indiana.
