Former scholar-athlete Thomas Kragt is recognized as a "prolific scorer" in the history of Spring Arbor College basketball, averaging over 28 points per game. In the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Kragt was recognized as leading free throw shooter and scorer during his two seasons at Spring Arbor, 1977-78 and 1978-79.
While a Cougar, Kragt attained NAIA All-American 2nd Team status, the highest award ever given to a Spring Arbor basketball player. Also in 1978, Kragt was recognized by the NAIA as 4th leading scorer in the nation. In 1977, he received honorable mention as an All-American for the All-District Team. As a national leader in free throws during the 1978-79 season, Tom hit 47 consecutive free throws.
A 1979 graduate of Spring Arbor College with a degree in philosophy-religion, Kragt earned the master of divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary. He has pastored in the Reformed Churches in America for more than 17 years. In addition, Kragt has enjoyed more than 20 years as a basketball official for the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
